SUNDAY August 24

Speaker’s dinner at the Linnaeus Garden and Museum

Professor Carl Linnaeus is the most well-known scientist at Uppsala university. Inside the gates of Svartbäcksgatan 27 lies his own botanical garden, a lush oasis in central Uppsala. In the regular plant quarters, more than a thousand species are grown, arranged according to Linnaeus’ sexual system, with annuals and perennials grown separately. Right next to the Linnaeus Garden is the Linnaeus Museum, located in a house that Linnaeus actually used as a residence. The museum provides a unique opportunity to discover him as both a scientist and a private person.

The speaker’s dinner will take place at the Linnaeus Museum.

NFYOG Student Nation Pub Night

Uppsala student nations constitute the heart of Uppsala’s student life. These 13 nations were founded as early as the 1600s and are located throughout the city center.  To this day, they are a second home to students from all of Sweden, but also to those who have moved abroad to study in Uppsala. In these extraordinary, historical nation buildings you will find pubs, cafés, libraries, restaurants and night clubs — all run by students, for students.

On Sunday evening (August 24th), the Nordic Federation of Societies of Young Obstetricians and Gynecologists (NFYOG) invites you all to an exclusive evening at one of Uppsala’s Nations, where you’ll get a glimpse into this world-renowned student life firsthand. Please join us in wrapping up the pre-congress day and preparing for the congress in the best way possible, with good food and drinks, a nice vibe and hopefully new Nordic acquaintances. Although the event is arranged by NFYOG, all congress participants are more than welcome to join. Limited spaces – first come, first served!

Time and location to be announced.

MONDAY August 25

City walk (to Flustret)

Your guide will meet you at the congress hall and lead you through the beautiful historical district of Uppsala. During your tour, you will learn about Uppsala’s exciting history and listen to enchanting stories of its inhabitants before arriving at Flustret, the location for the Get-Together reception.

Get-Together at Flustret

Join us for a Get-Together at the classic entertainment establishment, Flustret, near the scenic Fyris river. The name Flustret, meaning hive entrance, refers to the mass of crowds swarming the entry, just like bees at a beehive. The original building dates back to 1843 and is situated right below the Uppsala Castle, framed by the Swan Pond and the City Park. This yellow wooden house with pinnacles and towers offers a generous outdoor terrace, where we will enjoy drinks, finger food, live music and mingling with colleagues. What could be a better ending to the first day of the congress?

TUESDAY August 26

NFOG race

Begin your morning with the first ever NFOG race! We will start at 7 AM and run a 5 km long course along the Fyris river in central Uppsala. Besides being a great start of the day, the run will take you along the most beautiful parts of Uppsala. Who will be our winner? Runners of all levels welcome! Location of the start to be announced.

NFOG dinner at Uppsala Castle

Uppsala Castle was built as a defense facility by Gustav Vasa in 1549. This is where the King began his Eriksgata, where important decisions were made and where Queen Kristina abdicated. Today, the castle is used for Uppsala University’s ceremonial dinners.

This is the perfect opportunity to dust off an old ball gown, folk costume or tails if you feel like it. But for the rest of us who don’t have these items in our wardrobes, it’s fine to come in a suit or regular dress.

Prizes for best poster and best oral presentation will be awarded during the dinner.
